Terms of Service
Last updated September 4, 2026
By using Actually Free QR you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
The service
Actually Free QR is a free tool for generating QR codes in your browser, plus an optional signed-in feature for creating tracked short links with scan analytics. It is provided free of charge and funded by advertising.
Who owns what you make
The QR codes you generate are yours. We claim no ownership of them and no licence over them. You may use them for personal or commercial purposes, at any scale, without attribution and without a fee. QR Code technology itself is patent-free for this kind of use; “QR Code” is a registered trademark of Denso Wave Incorporated, which does not restrict generating or displaying codes.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use this site to:
- Create codes that lead to malware, phishing pages, or content that impersonates another person or organisation.
- Distribute codes pointing to content that is illegal where you or your audience are located.
- Place tracked codes over legitimate codes belonging to someone else — for example, on parking meters, invoices, or restaurant tables — in order to intercept payments or credentials.
- Attempt to break, overload, scrape at scale, or gain unauthorised access to the site, its API, or its database.
- Circumvent, block, or interfere with the advertising that funds the site.
We may remove tracked links and suspend accounts that breach these rules, without notice where the content is harmful.
Tracked links
Tracked links depend on our servers. We make no guarantee that any particular link will remain active indefinitely, and we may retire the feature or remove links that violate these terms. If permanence matters, download a plain QR code instead — it encodes your destination directly and does not depend on us at all.
You are responsible for what your tracked links point to, and for complying with any notice or consent obligations that apply to counting scans in your jurisdiction.
Availability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise uptime, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from a QR code failing to scan, a tracked link becoming unavailable, or reliance on scan analytics. Because the service is free, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to zero, except where that limitation is not permitted by law.
Always test a QR code on the devices your audience will use before committing it to print.
Third-party services
The site uses Google AdSense for advertising, Clerk for authentication, and Vercel for hosting. Your use of the site is also subject to their terms. See our Privacy Policy for what each one handles.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised version.
